In 1992 the club purchased the wreck of the Caroline Moller. The Caroline Moller was a rescue tug of the Saint class, constructed and launched in 1919 and named St Mabyn. She was sold in 1926 and renamed the Caroline Moller.
On the 29/11/1940 the Caroline Moller’s services were called upon in the English Channel. There had been a conflict between German and Royal Naval destroyers. During the exchange of fire that ensued, the RN destroyer Javelin had been badly damaged. Her total length of 356ft being reduced to some 155ft. The Caroline Moller towed HMS Javelin into Plymouth. Repairs to the Javelin took 13 months. At the time the captain of the Javalin was Louis Mountbatten, later to become Lord Mountbatten.
